Associate Research Engineer

Grand Forks, ND or Minnetonka, MN

Microbeam is seeking a Research Engineer to participate in a team that performs design and development work to improve the performance of energy conversion systems. We are looking for highly qualified and motivated candidates who are interested in advancing Microbeam applications and delivering products to our clients that that improve plant efficiency and reliability.  The candidate must enjoy working on complex multidisciplinary issues associated developing and testing sensors and/or tools that are utilized on-site by operations personnel.

The responsibilities of the position include:

  • Perform analysis, testing, and modeling to identify the root cause of conversion system operational issues.

  • Work with a collaborative team of talented data scientists/engineers, machine learning/neural network engineers, and software engineers to develop complex power system optimization tools.

  • Communicate work with stakeholders and leaders associated with technology.

The required qualifications of the position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET Accredited)

  • Background in performing laboratory, bench, pilot, and field testing of technologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare reports and presentations

The preferred qualifications of the position include:

  • BS/MS degree in engineering

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team
