Carbon-Ore Utilization
MTI interests include determination of the modes of occurrence of Rare Earth Elements and Critical Minerals (REE-CM), extractability of REE and CMs from carbon-ore, as well as detection and resource sorting based on concentration for alternative energy resources.
Research Areas
Microbeam Technologies, Inc. is a research leader in alternative uses of carbon-ore.
In the Rare Earth Element and Critical Mineral sector, Microbeam uses in-field measurement analyzers like XRF technology and on-belt analyzers to measure the concentration REE-CMs in coal. Proprietary algorithms are in development at Microbeam to predict REE-CMs on a belt in real time to sort high value coal for REE extraction.
Carbon-ore is being investigated as an alternative building material in residential and commercial construction.
